Starting at number 10 we have episode 178: You Are Treating Your Customers Equally (And It’s Costing You Money). Wharton Professor and entrepreneur Peter Fader joined us to talk about customer lifetime value and customer centricity. He shares the models he uses to predict lifetime value and the importance of focusing on customer quality as you scale.
At number 9 we have episode 139: Zuckerberg On Trial: What You Need To Know About The Future Of Facebook Advertising. Facebook marketing superstar Molly Pittman joined us to talk about digital marketing in the wake of Facebook’s data privacy issues. Even though Zuck was on trial back in April 2018, Facebook is seeing continued repercussions. Molly discussed the three key things you need to launch a successful ad campaign as competition and costs continue to rise, and how to stay relevant as Messenger becomes an increasingly important advertising platform.
Coming in at number 8 is episode 143: Finding Balance Amidst the Highs and Lows of Entrepreneurial Life. This was one of my favorite episodes to record in the last year. Victor Delacruz is the founder and owner of ChristianPlanner.com, and he shared the story of his entrepreneurial journey – from youth pastor to Air Force Captain to jazz piano student at NYU to the business owner he is now. There are many ups and downs when you’re an entrepreneur and Victor shared what’s helped him find balance.
Our number 7 most-downloaded episode is number 149, part 1 of our 2 part interview with Greg McKeown on The Art of Doing Less But Better. Greg is the author of a book that changed the way I approach my life, Essentialism. In this episode, we explore what stops otherwise outstanding people from breaking through to the next level, and dive into why most people struggle to define what’s important in their life.
Episode 145 comes in at number 6: International Shipping Demystified: How to Scale your Business Overseas. Shipping abroad can be challenging, with many different contracts, customs, and taxes. It can also be a huge part of scaling your business. Tommaso Tamburnotti, co-founder of EasyShip, joined us to talk about the process of moving from domestic to international shipping, common inventory issues, and how to start taking advantage of the international market.
Our 5th most downloaded episode is 156: The State Of Facebook And IG Ads: How To Go From Failing To Scaling. Many people saw their Facebook and Instagram ads struggling to perform in 2018, and in this episode Andrew walked through the steps you can take to turn your failing advertising campaigns around. He discussed how to assess what’s working and what’s not and shared some tools and tactics to help you understand delivery metrics to get your ads back on track.
Coming in at number 4 is episode 159: The $100 Million Dollar Blueprint with Mike Danner of Ancient Nutrition. Ancient Nutrition is the largest natural health website in the world and was named the #1 fastest growing company in Tennessee in both 2016 and 2017. As they scaled at an incredibly fast rate, Mike, their VP of Digital Marketing, had to keep the business powering through and become an expert on hiring in order to keep up with their unprecedented growth. He shared his tips for hiring incredible talent, and overcoming the challenges that come with massive growth.
Number 3 on our list is episode 137: How to Grow and Scale Your Ecommerce Business with Joe Fischer. In this episode Founder Joe Fischer shared the inside scoop on what’s working (and what’s not) at his fast-growing gifting startup Greetabl. He talked about which marketing channels worked best to fuel Greetabl’s growth, how to hire quality talent as you scale (even if you’re in a small town), the reality behind fundraising for your business, and the five key areas ecommerce brands need to focus on to see ongoing, sustained growth in the coming years.
Our second most-downloaded episode is another favorite of mine, number 141: What it Takes to Build and Scale a $100M Lifestyle Brand with Jake Kassan. Jake, CEO and Founder of MVMT Watches, was one of my first clients back in 2013 when he was first launching the brand. Today MVMT has grown into a $100M business and Jake shared with us what it took to get there. He talked about how having a strong team is essential to scaling your business and his #1 tip for scaling a business.
And our number one most downloaded episode from 2018 is number 136: The Contrarian Advertising Strategies Facebook Doesn’t Want You to Know. This was Justin Marshall’s first appearance on the podcast in 2018. The Facebook marketing expert shares specific targeting strategies and optimization tactics, how to scale and ramp up your ads, and the common mistakes you’re probably making with your Facebook ads.
